As the mother of future teenagers, I confess to being more than wee bit frightened of raising children in the digital age. We have older nieces and nephews, and have already heard of regrettable exploits by their friends: smartphones + hormones = dangerous combination.
So it was with a generous sigh of relief that I read a recent Huffington Post article (Adult Sexting: Does It Help Or Hurt Relationships?) that said my worries may be statistically unfounded: perhaps only 1% of teens are engaging in sexting behavior. That seems a little low to me, frankly. But the article’s stat that really caught my attention was that 6 percent of adults say they’ve sent an “adult” message to their significant other (and 15% say they’ve received such a message … you do the math).
Honestly, 6% also seems low.
